Tool Tags UHF

The iDTRONIC UHF tool tags UHF have been designed especially for healthcare and tool tracking applications. In healthcare, the compliance with FDA requirements for Unique Device Identification enables the costumer to track automatically all surgical tools and reduce the risks of foreign object debris (FOD) and infection control. The tool tags can be mounted on metal or embedded in metal and will withstand repeated autoclave cycles.

The IP68 housing allows a usage in harsh environments similar to construction sides. Change from NXP Mifare 4 byte UID number to 7 byte UID number

Guidance for the change from NXP Mifare
4 byte UID number to 7 byte UID number

The UID of Mifare cards is in most cased used to identify the card during the selection and anti-collision process. It also serves as a logical identifier in contactless systems. Now the NXP Unique 4 Byte IDs will be discontinued for Mifare1S50 (1K) and Mifare1S70 (4K) NXP offers two options for future Mifare card and tags orders:

1.    Mifare 7 Byte UID

2.    Mifare 4 Byte NU (Non-Unique) UID

Non-unique IDs need to be considered in the contactless systems as their 7 Byte UID numbers might cause problems in automatic fare collection, closed loop payment and access management applications!

iDTRONIC Customers will have the choice to purchase either products with unique 7 Byte ID’s or 4 Byte NU IDs, which are not globally unique any more.

New Mifare 7 Byte and 4 Byte NU cards and tags will be available from Q4 2011, until then all orders will be produced with standard Mifare 4 Byte UID.

NXP I-Code SLI-X—Now available from iDTRONIC

iDTRONIC SMART TAGS, a leading supplier for Smart Tags and Smartcards offers now all products also with the new I-Code SLI-X transponder IC from NXP.

The I-CODE SLI-X IC is a dedicated device for intelligent Labels, Tags and Smartcards used in applications such as library, access control and product authentication.

The new I-CODE SLI-X offers the possibility of operating labels simultaneously in the field of the reader antenna (anti-collision). It is specially designed for long read range applications.

The 1024 bit EEPROM memory is divided into 32 blocks. A block is the smallest access unit. Each block consists of 4 bytes (1 block = 32 bits). Bit 0 in each byte represents the least significant bit (LSB) and bit 7 the most significant bit (MSB), respectively.

The memory is divided into 2 areas

Configuration area:
Within this part of the memory all required information is stored, such as UID, write protection, access control information, passwords, AFI and EAS. This memory area cannot be directly accessed.

User memory:
Within the 896 bit memory area the user data are stored. Direct read/write access to this part of the memory is possible depending on the related write protection conditions.

Of course you can use this new I-CODE SLI-X IC for all iDTRONIC tag/card formfactors like ISO CARD, RFID KEYFOBS or RFID WRISTBANDS.

The I-CODE SLI-X IC is definitely a valid choice if security and price are the driving factors.

iDTRONIC’s latest innovative product, the “UHF Long Range Gate SDK“ consists of the high-performance iDTRONIC UHF Long Range Reader/Writer, four circular polarized antennas (A1 type), two stands, full mounting equipment and cables, as well as, a full Starter Development Kit on CD-ROM.

The new UHF Reader/Writer Device is a high performance reader (R/W) based on Intel´s latest R1000 transceiver and can be configured with any frequency from 860—960 MHz. This makes it usable in Europe, US and even Japan. It also has also a software programmable RF Power supply (up to 2 W RF) and multi-colour LED indicators.

The versatile and robust Long Range Reader is capable of reading tags that conform to EPC Generation Two (Gen2) and ISO 18000-6 B/C standards. It allows reading distances of up to 10 meters and is field-upgradeable for future protocols: easy and fast firmware upgrades are possible via the USB Interface. Thanks to its robust high strength and resilient extruded aluminium enclosure, it can resist temperatures of up to 60 °C.

A four channel Multiplexer is integrated in the UHF LR Reader / Writer and thanks to the software control of the antenna outputs, it is possible to use it for many different configurations. The configuration possibilities make it easy to adapt this device to a wide variety of applications, including asset management, baggage handling, container & pallet tracking, item-level inventory management and warehouse logistics.

The new Compact Flash UHF Reader / Writer from iDTRONIC supports the full UHF frequency band from 860—960 MHz. iDTRONIC, a leading supplier for RFID Hardware solutions, has introduced three newly enhanced RFID tags to meet the demands of a wide range of applications. The UHF Indus Tags are all EPC Class 1 Gen 2 compatible and are now equipped with ALIEN’s Higgs 3 ICs.

iDTRONIC’s new Indus tags are specially designed for Industrial Applications, since it is extremely resistant to any kind of external damage.

The new UHF tags are complete made of Nylon and Epoxy material, which allows the tags to support the physical conditions found in harsh environments, and to resist against abrasion, impact and corrosion. The Indus Tags are designed to easily resist temperatures up to 90 °C, as well as a wide range of agressive chemicals.

They also have a protective coating which is particularly resistant to humidity, and conforms to the IP67 norm as well as DIN 40050 / IEC 60529. This assures a very low level of interference from materials such as metal and liquids.

The new generation of Indus Tag are available in three different form factors, as Indus Brig tag (36 × 126 × 13 mm), designed as a high-end general purpose tag for use in supply chain management solutions including pallet and case tracking. For the same usage, but with other dimensions is the new Indus SQ tag (59 × 112 × 7 mm) designed. The smallest member of the new UHF Tags series, the Indus Tiny tag (37 × 60 × 10 mm) is dedicated for all industrial application where size and form factors are important for the daily use.

All Indus tags have been tested at a very reliable reading range of up to 5 meters in a variety of harsh industrial environment. The tags are all EPC Class 1 Gen2 conform, support UHF frequencies from 868—916 MHz and are based on ISO 18000-6 standard.

With costs rising in the waste management process, RFID is enabling cities and municipalities to reliably identify individual receptacles and can create incentive-based recycling programs that accurately reward customers for the amount they recycle, while minimizing the overall amount of trash.

By automating the collection of all waste, RFID can assure that individual bins have been collected, providing verification of service. In addition this information can be used to optimize truck usage and routes. Processes can be streamlined and more accurate.

RFID technology helps a lot to increase efficiency of the waste management operations. To realize this application, a properly designed rugged RFID tag is attached to the waste bins. It contains all user/owner information.

An RFID reader/antenna embedded into the truck captures the tag IDs of each waste bin. Access Control is a system which enables an authority to control access to areas in a given physical facilities.An access control point, which can be a door, turnstile, parking gate, elevator or other physical barrier where granting access can be controlled using RFID technology.

Data security is generally very high using RFID technology. It also reduces the possibility of duplicating credentials. Secure or proprietary communication protocols can also be used to further enhance security.

A RFID based Access Control reader does not usually make an access decision but send a card number to an Access Control panel that verifies the number against an access list. Generally only entry is controlled and exit is uncontrolled. In cases where exit is also controlled a second reader is used on the opposite side of the door.

The typical RFID tag is a RFID based contactless smartcard, key fob, wristband or smartphone sticker.
