From RFID wristband to end-to-end access solutions for gyms

A member arrives at the gym, holds their RFID wristband up to the reader and enters. In the changing room, they then use the wristband to lock their locker. The process is simple—provided the components used are perfectly matched.

With Smart Access iDTRONIC offers the right hardware for such access concepts. This includes RFID identification media, access readersandelectronic locker locks as well as turnstiles andand security gates.

‍

One wristband for various applications

A RFID wristband is comfortable to wear on the wrist and is quickly available at check-in. It can be used for gym access and locker operation. In a suitably integrated environment, other applications such as cashless payment are also possible.

For a single medium to handle multiple functions, the technical requirements must be met. In addition to the frequency, the chip technology and data format are crucial. The encoding and the software used must also be compatible with the readers and locks. iDTRONIC provides support in selecting suitable RFID chips and offers individual customization options for each wristband model, such as logos or numbering.

‍

From check-in to authorized access

At the entrance, an access reader scans the identification medium. The connected system solution verifies authorization and grants access accordingly. For fitness studios, iDTRONIC offers solutions that can be integrated into common management systems like Magicline. The specific connection is tailored to match the existing system environment.

To control the flow of people, for example, the ID GATE 5800 can be used. This speed gate supports the integration of RFID readers and QR code technology; facial recognition is available as an option. Sensors monitor the passage, while RGB status lighting provides guidance to users.

‍

Integrating electronic locker locks into the concept

The digital process continues in the changing room. With a compatible setup, members can also use their RFID wristband for their lockers. The choice of lock depends on the desired operation and administrative requirements.

One example is the OTS 40 Batteryless. The lock generates the necessary energy through the act of operation itself, eliminating the need for batteries or wiring. The lockers can be managed centrally via a gateway with cloud connectivity. The Ojmar cloud software allows for status monitoring and lock configuration. In the event of a network failure, the system continues to work offline and synchronizes once the connection is restored.

‍

From planning to a ready-to-use solution

The process should begin with the desired member workflow. Which areas require access control? Which media are already in use? Should existing lockers be integrated? These requirements determine the appropriate combination of hardware and system integration.

Before installation, it is recommended to conduct a test with the actual media intended for use and the existing software. This should also include testing typical everyday scenarios, such as a blocked wristband or missing authorization for a specific area.

This creates a solution that is aligned with gym operations and remains intuitive for members. iDTRONIC supports projects from product selection and technical integration to customized solutions.

Would you like to connect your entrance and locker usage? Together, we can determine which smart access components are the right fit for your fitness studio.
